Marcus, an enterprising 8th grader who earns extra cash protecting other students from bullies, gets suspended from school after he punches a bully who calls his younger brother a derogatory slur. Marcus's mom decides to use this time to regroup as a family by taking a trip to Puerto Rico to introduce her sons to her ex-husband's relatives. Marcus decides that he is going to use this trip as an opportunity to find his father who walked out on the family ten years ago, but will he like what he finds?
