Fern is an old oak tree located in a neighborhood and tradition has it that each year people come and write wishes on strips of cloth and hang them from her branches hoping they will come true. She narrates the story about a young Muslim girl, new to the neighborhood, who makes a wish that she finds a friend. The next day the word LEAVE is carved in Fern's trunk. Will the girl's wish come true or is this the end of the Wishtree?
