Fourth Down And Inches Nineteen players died as a result of injuries suffered during the 1905 football season, and public outrage almost got the game banned. However, football players, coaches, fans, and officials made changes to make the game safer. Now, football is coming under scrutiny again as scientists learn more about concussions and brain injuries sustained during football games and practices. Will these new understandings about the dangers of brain injuries and football lead to the end of the sport or safer practices for athletes?
